Volunteers from Telecom help out at Garden to Table Schools
Thursday, April 19, 2012 | Catherine Bell
A big thank you to a team of volunteers from Telecom's Gen-i division who spent time out at four schools the other day. Meadowbank School got new garden steps, Edendale Primary got a new no-dig garden (nicknamed the lasagne garden for the way it was layered up), Dawson's Road Primary has a beautiful new orchard and at Owairaka School they helped with the kitchen and garden classes that day. By all accounts the schools were delighted to have this wonderful help - they'd be happy to have you back any time!
We are delighted to share some exciting news with you. For the last year we've been working with Waterfront Auckland on a unique Garden to Table facility to be situated in the Wynyard Qaurter on Auckland's fast developing waterfront.
The land has been secured for extensive edible gardens, kitchen classroom and offices and work is now underway on the design.
Did you see the great story and videos over Easter

Our thanks to Fairfax for the wonderful coverage across the country about Garden to Table over Easter weekend. There's a lovely story and lots of images about the students at Owairaka School PLUS two really great videos - one shot at Meadowbank school with pupil Greer Webber harvesting and then cooking at home with her Mum and in the other Greer shows us how to make Vietnamese Spring Rolls - a favorite with all the children in the Garden to Table programme.
It's very exciting! Owairaka School is a finalist in the NZ Gardener Magazine School Garden of the Year competition and Garden to Table would love them to win. You can see all about them here and you can vote for them here.

Four local schools are keen to see their pupils involved each week in the Garden to Table Programme and we'll be invloving the children in every aspect of the design and planting etc as it happens.
\n
There is certainly lots to be done and our main job now is to find company's and individuals to help us make it happen.

If you'd like to discuss how you might be able to help please don't hesitate to email us. We'd love to hear from you.
