Welcome to Garden to Table
GROW, HARVEST, PREPARE, SHARE
The Garden to Table programme is changing the way children approach and think about food. All around the country we want to see children enthusiastically getting their hands dirty and learning how to grow, harvest, prepare and share fresh, seasonal food.
Childhood obesity is an increasing issue in New Zealand and at Garden to Table we strongly believe that children who understand where good food comes from, know how to prepare it and then share it with friends and whanau, are likely to make better food choices.
There are many schools with kitchen gardens, which we strongly support. However, this is only half the equation. Children also need to understand how to harvest and then use their wonderful produce to prepare good food that can be replicated at home.

Welcome to Niki Bezzant - Garden to Table Ambassador
We're delighted to welcome well-known health and nutrition commentator and editor-in-chief of NZ’s top-selling food magazine, Healthy Food Guide, to Garden to Table as an Ambassador.
It’s an exciting programme that takes a long-term, sustainable approach to food education,” Ms Bezzant says. “It provides children with an opportunity to work in the garden and kitchen and shows them where good food comes from, how to grow it, and then how to cook and share it. I am proud to be an Ambassador.”
