Wednesday, 20 May is World Bee Day, so here are some great maths calculations to help your children and/or students understand how amazing bees are, and why honey is such a precious food (oh, and they get to use maths along the way!). Click on the link below to download the one-page resource.
Educational Resources during COVID-19
We are pleased to be able to share some of our Garden to Table gardening, cooking and education resources to support families during this lockdown period. You can view recent posts and categories on the right of the screen. All across NZ funding bodies are closing to new applications, corporates are putting a hold on their donations, and generous, individual donors have become our lifeline. Garden to Table doesn't receive any government funding, although our work, building resilience and life-skills in children, has never been more important. We are making our resources freely available, but would be grateful for any donation you are able to provide to help us continue our work with over 16,000 primary school children each week. The Donate button is at the top of the screen. Stay well and kia kaha.

Rainy Day Activities
Tuesday, April 07, 2020 | Linda Taylor
Rainy days are tough for everyone, especially when the children are itching to get outside and the adults probably are too. Rainy day activities are ideally as practical and hands-on as possible. Here are some ideas we use at Garden to Table when we can't get out in the garden. Please click on the link below.
Compost, Bokashi and Worm Farms
Tuesday, March 24, 2020 | Linda Taylor
Has working on your compost been on your 'to do' list? Why not think about also setting up a worm farm and bokashi. This is the starter resource we use with Garden to Table schools. If you would like to know more then there are lots of detailed resources online that can help.
Growing Plants from Seeds
Tuesday, March 24, 2020 | Linda Taylor
Growing plants from seed teaches children about the magic of nature and the natural lifecycle of plants. Fruit and vegetable seeds come in all shapes and sizes, each with the potential to grow a plant which we can eat all or part of. Growing plants from seed provides opportunities for you to talk with your children about what factors a seed needs to germinate and grow, and the parts of a plant that will develop as it grows. If you have old packets of seeds lying around, why not see if they will still grow? Check the expiry date, though, to help manage expectations, and make sure you have some fresh seeds as well, which have a better chance of success!
Seed Saving Activities from the Garden and Kitchen
Tuesday, March 24, 2020 | Linda Taylor
Saving seeds is a great way you can take your garden “full circle” by growing and saving the source of the next generation of fruit and vegetables within your own garden or kitchen. A great activity for the autumn garden! Click the link below.
