With support from The Tindall Foundation and MediaWorks Foundation, Garden to Table Trust is conducting an evaluation of the Garden to Table programme in 2019 and 2020. The aim of this research is threefold; to investigate the impact of Garden to Table on childhood food literacy, academic achievement and social outcomes.
The research will be conducted in partnership with two Auckland schools; Henderson North School and St John the Evangelist Catholic School in Otara. It is important to note that, while the schools are publicly identified, all student data will be collated and anonymised. Currently, the Trust is consulting with researchers from the University of Otago, the University of Auckland and Awa Associates, and we are very grateful for their support.
Over the past 10 years we have received constant feedback from parents, teachers and Principals about the benefits they see from Garden to Table. We are excited to be able to formally assess the impact of the programme, as two schools begin their Garden to Table journey.
Over the next 12 months we will be regularly sharing updates from our research schools, so you can follow their progress as they establish their garden, cooking space and Garden to Table programme.
